What is an infrared sauna?
At first glance, an infrared sauna looks a lot like traditional Finnish sauna. Just like her, it is a cabin, the interior of which is entirely made of wood and has benches for seating.
Unlike a traditional sauna, however, an infrared sauna does not heat the air in the room, but uses infrared rays. They heat the body directly, penetrating the tissues to a depth of 7 cm.
Since no steam is generated in the room, the humidity in the infrared sauna is close to zero, and the temperature does not exceed 40-55°C. This temperature is more gentle and pleasant, which is why the stay time in the infrared sauna can be slightly longer.
Infrared sauna in Lucky Bansko.
The infrared sauna we have in hotel Lucky Bansko, is located in a quiet, peaceful and easily accessible location in the hotel’s SPA center.
The room is made entirely of wood and has comfortable benches to sit on. In the cabin, at strategic points, there are carbon cables installed that emit completely harmless infrared rays.
The time spent in the infrared sauna is about 20-25 minutes, but our recommendation is that when you first enter the sauna, you stay for a maximum of 10 minutes and gradually increase the time with each subsequent visit.
How to use
Using the infrared sauna at Lucky Bansko SPA is extremely easy. All you have to do is take a shower beforehand and hydrate yourself well before entering the sauna.
Once you enter the room, simply relax and enjoy the warmth of the infrared rays, which will warm your body deeply and very pleasantly.
Benefits of an infrared sauna
Among the main benefits of an infrared sauna are:
- Detoxification: Infrared rays penetrate up to 7 cm deep into the tissues, which causes the body to sweat much faster. This in turn promotes the elimination and cleansing of toxins. Just for comparison, sweat released under the influence of infrared rays contains 80-85% water and 15-20% toxins and fats, which is about 5-6 times more than normal sweating.
- Cellulite reduction and weight loss:In addition to the profuse sweating, the body burns up to 900 calories during a sauna session. These calories correspond to 45 minutes of intense physical activity. In addition, the heat from the infrared rays, which penetrates directly into the tissues, acts on superficial fat deposits (cellulite) and helps speed up the metabolism.
- Improved skin tone: Infrared sauna therapy dilates blood vessels, effectively improving blood circulation throughout the body. This increased circulation not only helps eliminate waste products, but also helps deliver more oxygen and nutrients to the skin. Since skin needs nutrients to produce collagen, visiting an infrared sauna is a great way to improve facial skin tone and reduce wrinkles.
- Pain relief: Visiting an infrared sauna can reduce pain from arthritis, back pain, osteoarthritis, and other joint and muscle pain and injuries.
Infrared rays also have a beneficial effect on skin diseases such as eczema, psoriasis, and others.о и върху кожни заболявания като екземи, псориазис и други.
Contraindications
Despite its numerous benefits, infrared saunas are not recommended for certain diseases and conditions.
These are, for example:
- Pregnancy: The higher temperature in the sauna increases body temperature and dilates blood vessels. This can cause contractions. Therefore, it is not recommended for use during pregnancy.
- Severe cardiovascular diseases: The heat from infrared rays increases the heart rate, which is why staying in the sauna is not recommended for people with heart failure, heart surgery or transplantation, impaired coronary circulation, and hypertension.
